You And I
You and I are day and night,
But who is wrong, and who is right?
You slay the lion,
I save the tree,
You play the game,
I move the tee.
You bleed the heart,
I strike the soul,
You break the glass,
I sculpt the mold.
War and peace fall hand in hand,
Life and death control the land.
You fight the fire,
I’ll mend the ice,
You’ll tell me once,
I’ll tell you thrice.
You hold the sword,
I opt for pen,
You hide the truth,
I play pretend.
Should lovers waste the lives they make,
Would victims sleep, would suspects wake?
You cross the line,
I draw again,
You say the word,
I must defend.
You live the lie,
I find the facts,
You change your mind,
I write the pact.
My love, you mean
The world to me,
But I belong to family.
You may be strong,
I may be weak,
But I know who
I am to be.
You fall behind,
I’ll rise above,
You drown below,
I breathe above.
Bruises I have longed to hide,
Are now beyond this sinner’s pride.
Too much is lost, too much I’ve found,
Your voice is haunting,
Mine resounds.
And now I see the truth so blue,
And now I know, what more to do.
You take the road,
I’ll pave the path,
You sneer and snide,
I’ll run and laugh.
You call a friend,
I’ll stand alone,
You keep your house:
I’m headed home…
