Forums and Blogs?

Just curious...why do we have Forums AND Blogs? Seems to me like many are using the Blogs as Forums. Can't this be condensed into one area?

    Some of the Forum topics are for fans to ask questions for the staff or just start a conversation, while blogs are just for users to post, share experiences, etc.

    Hmmm...I've always considered Blogs to be more like on-line journals. Forums are forums, that's why we have a handful of sections, such as, oh I don't know, "Off Topic" for the random posts.
